Re: Post Budget
Conference call
As you are all no doubt aware the budget to be delivered at
approximately 2.30 pm on Tuesday February 17th.
The provincial government’s 10 point economic plan announced in October
and the amendments to the balanced budget legislation mean that public finances
and tax measures are largely known. However, given that this will be an
‘election budget’ there will be measures that will be of
significant importance to the business community and to the economy, particularly
given the current economic climate.
With this in mind it is important
that chambers are prepared to respond to media and
member questions regarding the provisions of Budget 2009. To
facilitate this process between 3:15 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. PST
the Chamber will host a conference call to discuss and analyze the contents of
the budget. Because the BC Chamber has representation in the budget
lock-up we will have a relatively detailed analysis and strong position
we can delineate for you.
We
would urge chamber members to make every effort to participate in this conference
call.
