In the fall of 2008, a communiqué from Versapay was sent to all the BC Chamber offices which contained incorrect information pertaining to the TD/First Data Merchant Services Chamber offering.  This information has caused both confusion and uncertainty with respect to the validity of our program. 

 

The communiqué stated that the TD/First Data offering will increase members’ merchant services monthly fees by $13.00.  This information is totally inaccurate.  As many of the BC Chamber offices are aware, our offering is very competitive and currently waives a variety of standard fees, including, the monthly service and/or administration fees for both Visa and Mastercard., the very fees that Versapay was highlighting.

 

With TD/First Data’s Merchant Services offering to the BC Chambers, the ‘effective’ merchant discount rate will always be what was individually priced for each merchant.  By not adding a ‘per transaction’ surcharge to the merchant discount rate in our Chamber offering, the merchant not only knows what their merchant discount rate is with each transaction, but also what their bottom line is at all times—no mess, no fuss!

 

In the table below, we have taken annual dollar volume of credit card transactions with corresponding  average ticket sizes a merchant would process and applied the merchant discount rate as per both TD/First Data’s and Versapay’s Chamber offering to illustrate actual costs to the merchant:

 

 

No matter what volume of credit card transactions, the merchant will see lesser costs (greater than 50% in most cases) associated with TD/First Data’s Merchant Services Chamber offering versus Versapay’s Merchant Services Chamber offering.
